HAL Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of HAL, a product of Hal-PA Inc ("HAL", "we", "our"), including the HAL apps and gethal.com (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Eligibility

You must be 18 years of age or older to use HAL. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.

What HAL is

HAL routes your conversations to AI models from several providers and, when you choose to escalate, to human specialists ("Hals"). Hals are independent individuals, not HAL employees or agents — HAL does not control or guarantee the accuracy of their advice. See our Privacy Policy for details on which AI providers process your messages and what data is shared with them.

Your account

• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
• You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the Service, or engage in fraud.

Subscriptions, coins, and payments

• Coins are a virtual balance used to access AI conversations and human specialists. Coin packs are one-time purchases; coins do not expire and are non-refundable except where required by law.
• The Yearly Subscription ($69/year) is an auto-renewing plan that grants a monthly coin allowance, billed annually at the price shown at the time of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew for successive terms of the same length unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• Hal+ is a one-time payment (no renewal) that grants a fixed coin allowance spread over 10 years, limited to a capped number of participants; its price may change once those spots are taken. While Hal+ is active it also includes a team of Hals for your AI agents: you can ask a Hal to build or improve one of your agents, answer something it did not know, or review it. The first 20 requests of each calendar month (UTC) are included at no charge; from the 21st on each request costs 5 coins, held when you make it. A single Hal can take at most 5 of your included requests in a calendar month (UTC); the rest go to other Hals. Requests you pay for are not limited this way. A Hal takes the request and is paid 5 coins when you approve the delivery (or automatically 3 days after delivery if you do not review it); a request nobody takes within 72 hours closes and any coins held are returned. An answer a Hal writes for your agent is added to its knowledge only after you approve it, and, if the agent is listed in the Market, after our review.
• Cancellation: if you purchased or manage your subscription through the App Store or Google Play, cancel it from your Apple ID or Google account subscription settings — HAL cannot cancel an App Store/Google Play subscription on your behalf. If you purchased directly through gethal.com, you can cancel any time from Settings inside the app; access continues until the end of the paid period.
• Prices are shown in USD and may change for future billing periods; we will notify you of price changes before they take effect.
• Payments are processed by Stripe (or, where applicable, the App Store / Google Play). HAL does not store your card details.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for anything illegal, or to harass, threaten, or harm anyone (human or Hal specialist).
• Attempt to circumvent usage limits, reverse-engineer the Service, or interfere with its normal operation.
• Use the Service to generate content that infringes someone else's rights or violates applicable law.
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone.

Content

You retain ownership of the content you send to HAL. You grant HAL a limited license to process, store, and display that content back to you as needed to operate the Service (route it to an AI provider or a Hal, keep your conversation history, etc.), as described in our Privacy Policy.

Responses generated by AI models may be inaccurate or incomplete. Do not rely on HAL for medical, legal, financial, or other decisions requiring a licensed professional without independent verification.

Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time — see how to delete your account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (payments already due, limitation of liability, disclaimers) will survive.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated or Hal-provided responses will be accurate.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hal-PA Inc will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or revenue, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where local consumer-protection law requires otherwise.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will always be at gethal.com/terms. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email.
